Family Events
PTA organizes four Signature Events each year: Trunk-or-Treat (October), Bingo Night (fall/winter), Winter Wonderland (winter), and Cultural Heritage Night (spring). These events draw hundreds of attendees and offer a fun time for whole family. Learn more about our Signature Events below.
Trunk-or-Treat
Abingdon kids and their siblings get a head start on Halloween at Trunk-or-Treat. Dozens of decorated cars fill the school parking lot. That's the Trunk. Then kids go from car to car for candy. There's the Treat. Come for the sweets, stay for the costumes.

Bingo Night
First held in winter 2024, Bingo Night immediately proved it was here to stay. Classic bingo, lighting rounds, even musical bingo. So simple and yet so much fun that your kids might starting dancing on the cafeteria tables. Seriously.
Winter Wonderland
Short days and low temps? Get ready for Winter Wonderland! Translation: Eat pizza, drink hot chocolate, and go ice skating with friends.
Cultural Heritage Night
To call the Abingdon community 'diverse' is an understatement. Our students hail from all around the world and speak nearly two dozen languages. They are recently resettled refugees and new immigrants; they are military and diplomatic families rotating through DC; they are lifelong Virginians. And they are all Abingdon. Every spring, we gather to celebrate the many cultures and cuisines that comprise our community.
