We serve more students but have fewer resources
Abingdon is the largest elementary school in Arlington County. We finished the 2023-24 school year with 767 students and 125 staff. That's nearly 900 people in the building!
And Abingdon is a Title I school, which means more than 40% of the student body is lower-income, qualifying for free lunch and extra educational support. Hundreds of our students are English learners and recent immigrants and refugees to the United States.
Even though Abingdon's population is both large and needy, our PTA has a fraction of the financial resources of other Arlington elementary school PTAs. Some of their budgets approach and exceed $100,000!
We're proud to stretch our dollars and maximize their impact. But the reality is some Abingdon needs go unmet because we lack the funds to help. And we want to close that financial gap.

We host four Signature Events each year: Trunk-or-Treat, Bingo Night, Winter Wonderland, Cultural Heritage Night.
Each Signature Event draws hundreds of attendees from the school and surrounding community. Now you can become a presenting sponsor for these events.
